Prefab Panel Shop Tour: Adirondack Passive House
Friday, September 13, 2024, 11am-3pm
New Energy Works – 1180 Commercial Drive, Farmington, NY 14425
Please join us for the rare opportunity to see a prefab, low-carbon, passive house during panel fabrication, designed by the award-winning River Architects. Located in the Adirondack region of New York State, this project represents a curated collaboration between leaders in the industry.
We’ll take you from design all the way through panel fabrication as we hear from key building/design partners of the project. Learn how a project goes from design inception, to panelization and engineering, to panel fabrication. Gain understanding of the importance of selecting the right insulation materials, high performance membranes, and the right project partners. See how to execute the proper window details and learn the advantages of doing so within a controlled environment.
To conclude the event, guided tours will be provided in (2) groups, in which New Energy Works will showcase their Timber Frame Shop, Fine woodworking shop (Mass Timber building), and finally their Panel shop. We will end the tours back in the common space and allow time for questions and discussion.

New Energy Works / Panel and Timber Frame Manufacturer
Over three decades ago, New Energy Works started as a small timber frame company. Now, with their sister company Pioneer Millworks, they employ 150+ people across two locations and offer custom design, timber framing, fine woodworking, general contracting, high performance panelization, siding and flooring, and various reclaimed products. They operate on the triple bottom line – a simple belief that people, planet, and profit work together to ensure a better future. As a 100% employee-owned company, their coworkers are the owners and stewards to the work they do and the beliefs they share. Their products are made in a shop that runs on solar power and is heated from our own timber scrap. Efforts at reclaiming wood have processed over 1 million board feet per year for over 30 years.
